What is Manifestation?
Every Thing begins as an Idea. Manifestation is the path from that abstract Idea to a concrete Thing — whether it becomes an object, a piece of software, a building, a work of art or a body of knowledge.

The Origin
An ancient concept.
The distinction between an Idea and its concrete form reaches back to Plato. In his philosophy, the physical object is not the Idea itself, but an imperfect expression of it. The Web of Things adopts this fundamental separation without requiring Plato's complete metaphysics: an Idea can remain stable while its manifestations differ.
A Thing is not the Idea itself. It is one possible expression of it.

World Interpretation
Every manifestation is an interpretation.
An Idea never becomes a Thing in a neutral way. It is interpreted by a World with its own knowledge, rules, materials and tools. To make the Idea actionable, the World decomposes it into the building blocks it understands and provides.
The specialized perspective that interprets the Idea.
The available elements used to describe and construct the result.
The concrete composition created from those Blocks.
Worlds do not merely execute Ideas. They interpret them through their own building blocks.

The Process
Manual, assisted or autonomous.
Manifestation is not defined by its degree of automation. The same fundamental process can be performed entirely by a human, supported by machines or completed autonomously.
The Potter
An ancient potter interprets an Idea, selects clay and shapes the Thing entirely by hand.
The 3D Printer
A digital model is produced first, while a machine performs part of the physical manifestation process.
The Replicator
Digital Things can already be manifested automatically today. In the future, a physical Replicator may complete the entire path from Idea to Thing.

The WOT Framework
Every Manifestation produces a ThingKit.
Within the Web of Things, the direct result of a Manifestor is always a ThingKit. The ThingKit contains everything a Runtime needs to produce, execute or assemble the final Thing.
